transitions....

These last few days have been quite a medical adventure. Because of our transition from VA to MA we had to make some introductory visits here to make sure we were ready for delivery at a different hospital. Yesterday we met with the nurse practitioner who asked questions mostly related to the beginning of pregnancy. She even gave us a packet which contained all of the information that we received around 8 weeks. Needless to say she didn't spend a lot of time talking about things that we had already heard. She was friendly and nice. I appreciated her patience with us and the situation.

Today we did a hospital tour at the Emerson birthing center. Small (but comfortably sized rooms), cozy, and it has a tub--I am happy! Jimmy is happy because it seems to be very easy to get to, and very easy in terms of parking. After the hospital tour we met with the OBGYN, who was very kind and understanding. She mentioned a few logistical things, and set up an ultrasound. Yes, I had an ultrasound week 39 just because they wanted their own record of seeing the baby. The ultrasound was uneventful and even hard to understand. I think Mini Coop is pretty squished. They calculated her weight to be 8 lbs 4oz! I realize there is some error, but needless to say I was a little surprised! Everything is going well, Mini Coop is healthy, and it seems that my body and Mini Coop are just starting to progress, so any day now is possible!

Tomorrow Jimmy and I will meet the pediatrician, next week I meet with another OBGYN from the same practice, and Tuesday I begin stress tests in the actual labor and delivery unit. It seems we are set to go. Mini Coop is free to come as she pleases. She is has been such an obedient little girl already, let's hope that is some indication of her behavioral tendencies outside the womb.

So in conclusion, moving can be hard, but it is doable at 38-39 weeks pregnant. Although I don't reccommend it!
